Askham, nr Penrith Cumbria.
If you are tired of Bowness and Ambleside with crowds and outdoor shops, Askham may be just what you are after. A picture perfect linear village. Eden cottages don't come much cuter than this. With two superb pubs within stumbling distance of each other, many easy walks, a heated outdoor pool in summer you can't help but fall in love with this place.

A fine bevy of taste delights. Cafe, excellent unpretentious restraunt and specialist food shop in one. Few places come close to as good as this. A desert fanciers heaven. Floor to ceiling pudding menu and once a month 'Up the duff pudding club'. One of our favourite haunts for years.
